“Mother” - The Golden Filter
That… that is a flaming Furby. You’ll not find out why the Furby burns watching this video, though. You see, this is only a trailer. It is for Syndromes (Perfectly Isolated, October 10th), the ten-minute short film and soundtrack created by The Golden Filter in collaboration with Norwegian Grammy-winning director Kristoffer Borgli. It looks striking, and I cannot wait to watch it myself. Also, for the financially flexible, a great bundle is available through The Vinyl Factory [link]. Watch it with me on the tenth of October, and we shall discover the reason for the Furby’s demise together.

HNC - I Dream I Dead
When orbit tells you your dreaming does not synchronize with its cycle, and is therefor untrue, where does that leave you? Flickering streams of fall dreams, lonely colors are swarmed by the colorless beings who doubt dreaming. Autumn is numbed by winter, and left to question why it is lost in translation, and lonely until. For those who wish to better translate. Lustrous hushed hues of Tokyo’s HNC are unraveling. Their EP Witches Party is sold out, though more dreams are suspected to be uncovered sometime later in the seasons on White Lily Records.
I felt as if teetering - about as unsure as the autumnal leaves above me. But I had missed autumn, was deep into winter, and yet still I felt autumn. With red dreams that didn’t translate into my pale state of being. I was teetering - about as unsure as morning eyes, to wake, or to lullaby. I dreamed of fiery red things, and in my head there was something romantic about the marrying of reds and yellows. But I had missed autumn, and the too sculpted shapes of seasons were not satisfied with my coloring of whites winter. The white dirtied the dreams of a dreamer, infused bed-ridden snow blues, until remained pale yellows as numb as listless. Winter is more lonely than autumn, and [lately] I’ve lost the courage to dream color. Now apprehensive of even the muddled color of my shadow.
“Brenham, TX” - Into It. Over It.
Evan Weiss, the prolific face behind Into It. Over It., recently came together with Topshelf Records to offer his latest musical odyssey, the Twelve Towns LP. The full-length represents the end and collection of the split EPs Weiss released alongside bands such as Everyone Everywhere, Such Gold, and Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate). Our streaming song “Brenham, TX” remains my favorite from Twelve Towns, a spirited track with its endearing lyrical tone and penchant for keeping Weiss’ message instrumentally concise. If you’re a newcomer to Weiss and his various musical styles, Twelve Towns is an excellent aural buffet for those looking for a place to start. If you’ve been following the project since its inception, the songs have been remastered for Twelve Towns and the album features a bonus track, “Westmont, NJ.” Twelve Towns can be streamed here and bought digitally here.

Lewis // Highline
Delicate synths create a woozily slow chord progression that floats above the wise, deep bass line as Brooklyn’s Lewis slowly reels in his delicate vocals samples and hand plucked chimes and bells. Download his Summer_In Montana EP for more slow simmering sounds. [photo]
